The property & community
This farmhouse was thoughtfully designed and built in 2012 by local carpenters and craftspeople using natural materials and traditional building methods. The result is a quiet, honest space that feels deeply rooted in the landscape and honors the our intention of simple, sustainable living. We are especially mindful of using only natural, non-toxic cleaning products, and providing high-quality organic cotton sheets and linens.
Shrewsbury, Vermont is a quiet mountain town where life follows the pace of the seasons. It still feels like a true community, centered around working farms and neighbors who actually know each other. Life happens in person: a stop at the general store, live music at the meeting house, or an afternoon at the lake.
Kitchen & Living Room
The main living space features custom woodwork, large windows framing the surrounding forest, abundant natural light, and a simple, grounded energy that makes it easy to slow down and settle in. Spend your afternoon preparing a meal in the full, farm kitchen, finding your way back to childhood piano lessons, or curling up with a tea and good book on the couch. The home is made for slow mornings and shared meals.
Two bedrooms & one and a half bathrooms
The two simple, cozy bedrooms are designed for bedtime stories and restorative sleep. There is one private room with a queen bed and another shared room with two double beds and a twin bunk. Each room has plenty of storage and generous windows to welcome in the morning light. The spacious full bathroom offers a shower tub, and extra large vanity.

The farmhouse is filled with thoughtful, local touches and details, including artwork, custom woodwork, and practical storage spaces that help you unpack and settle in.
Porch & Outdoors
The wrap-around covered porch (with a hammock!) is tucked into the trees and the best spot to slow down and listen to the birds. Tucked away from the road, the yard is a mix of established gardens and seasonal herbs and flowers, with a firepit, barbecue, and a swing set for long, slow afternoons outside.
